How It Is Useful To You
This website is useful to the user or viewer because it shows proper ways to use the knife in the art form, it develops an appreciation of the knife to those who don't know about it and to those who look for a fun past time. The Balisong art form is a dangerous and painful experience if one chooses to take that path, for those who believe that they aren't trained enough for a real butterfly knife then it would be wise to purchase a trainer (dulled down knife edge).
Tier 1 (Beginner)
The first stage of using a butterfly knife would be just quickly opening and closing the knife, this causing a build up of strong bone cartilage which nearly pinches off your nerve ends.
Tier 2 (Intermediate)
The second stage of using a butterfly knife would be learning more intense tricks such as the zen roll-over, the windmill, and the quick-draw. The results of the level 2 will show when you can do the tricks perfectly without dropping the knife or being hurt in the process of the trick.
Tier 3 (Expert)
The final stage of properly using a butterfly knife would be mastering every move possible. Once you have done so, then trying other moves should come you very easily. The tricks should be adapted to you quickly if not then you are still at Tier 2, every time you perform a trick the knife should not fall or hurt you in any way.

This link is a brief history of the butterfly knife. The link provides facts and and very few opinions of the origin. It is best to take the original links facts over mine. This website is full of detail and great facts about the origin and the knife itself. The website doesn't give detail about tricks but more of history.

As well as the first one, this website is history based. Like the link provided gives great detail about the origin. This site talks about the creation of the knife in the Philippines. As the first site does this one also goes into a description of the blade itself. Although I gave some details about the butterfly knife on this website I recommend going to the original site for best detail.

The website provided was not only a great description of the origin. But it describes the main use of the blade. Sadly it does not give any information about any sort of trick(s). But it does show a great deal of usage and character of the butterfly knife. Like I said before it is best to take the information from the sources other than me.

This website I would recommend the most. It shows theory after theory about the origin. I could not imagine a better website, it gives great detail of the origin and provides great tricks and images. I would rather anyone look at this website other than mine. The website provided honestly goes into better detail then my website so take their word for it.

As well as the other links this one provides great depth of detail to the origin, but not to tricks or usage. The website does give great depth of the history of the butterfly knife. It also shows a picture of an old Philippine knife. Like the other websites, you should take their word for it rather than mine.
